Both men shaped the South in profound and lasting ways — in two different eras, under two very different circumstances. Khan believes both deserve recognition as Southern Legends, honored together for what they represent to our shared history.
Khan proposes celebrating a joint "King-Lee Holiday" on the 3rd Monday of January each year — a day to honor both General Lee and Dr. King, to promote Human Rights and Citizen Awareness, and to bring our divided history together under one roof of understanding.
History must be preserved intact. Removing monuments does not erase history — it erases the record of where we came from. Khan strongly opposes the removal of any Confederate monument or memorial. We can teach and contextualize; we must not destroy.
There is no room for racism in our society — but there is also no room for political correctness that rewrites the physical landscape of our communities. Khan opposes changing the names of roads and streets simply to conform to political trends.
Khan is firmly in favor of promoting "All Lives Matter" — not any one particular color or race. Every Georgian, regardless of background, deserves equal protection, equal opportunity, and equal voice in this democracy. We all bleed red.
Corrupt, self-serving systems that protect their own at the expense of the public must be dismantled. Khan will work to hold all judicial members accountable, ensure transparency in our courts, and eliminate the backroom networks that have long favored the few over the many.
Khan is against any reparation payments regardless of ethnicity or origin. He believes that rather than paying reparations, a deeper and more honest conversation about history, contribution, and mutual accountability is what moves us forward — and that those who truly saved others from persecution should be the ones reimbursed.
Those who prey on the most vulnerable — our children and women — must face swift and certain justice. Khan supports fast-tracking death penalty cases and serious sentencing for child abuse, incest, and rape. We must protect victims, uphold due process, and send an unmistakable message that this society will not tolerate these crimes.
The Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) must do its job — and be held accountable when it doesn't. Khan believes that families are the foundation of our society and that wherever help and hope can keep a family together, they should never be torn apart.
Removing a child from their family is one of the most serious interventions a government can make. It must not be done lightly, hastily, or punitively. When resources, counseling, and community support can preserve a family unit, that path must always be explored first.
When child custody removal is necessary, it must be carried out by fully trained, qualified professionals — and those professionals must be held accountable for their decisions. The welfare of every child in this state depends on the integrity of the people entrusted with their safety.
